Welcome

Hello I’m Dr Justin Henry

Meet Dr Justin Henry:

It is with thankfulness and joy that I celebrate my 14th year in Chiropractic practice. I have been working in Queensburgh in my established practice since May 2010 and then took over the Ballito practice in March 2020 from Dr de Beer just 2 weeks before lockdown. I have also recently opened up a third after-hours branch in Durban North.

I really enjoy my work and engaging with all patients, from babies to seniors, and I have a high regard for good bedside manner. My patients’ health is my priority and will always come first, with calculated and careful treatment and management, and referral to other health care professionals as necessary. I believe in holistic musculoskeletal care and not just joint manipulation and my training and treatment is well rounded, hence addressing all relevant aspects of health. I believe in continually studying to stay abreast of the latest possible knowledge and practice both within as well as outside the field of Chiropractic ensuring best patient results.

A little about me…
I grew up in East London and after matriculating from Hudson Park High initially studied a year at Rhodes for a possible career in veterinary science. I soon realised my real passion was in treating people and was introduced to the world of Chiropractic through my father who had had successful treatments for his back. On acceptance into the Chiropractic programme, I moved to Durban to begin my Chiropractic studies.
I am a family man and am married to my beautiful wife and we have a champion of a young son. I am passionate about sport, exercise, and health in general. I love the beach, bush and berg and regularly enjoy gym, running, touch-rugby, tennis, hiking, game drives, braaiing and watching the Springboks play rugby – especially when they win! I love hanging out with people and being a part of my local community.

Sports Chiropractic

As an avid sportsman and fan, I have a particular interest in treating sports injuries and seeing sportsmen and women excel through optimal health and fitness. I am an internationally recognised sports Chiro (FICS-ICSC) and am a member of the Chirosport SA committee. Treating sporting injuries has become commonplace in practice over the past 10 years and I have worked with many athletes as well as teams including the Queensburgh and Ballito Dolphins rugby sides. I prefer working in combination with other health professionals as a team to bring about the best overall result for the patient.

I would like to encourage you to continue training or to start to train ASAP as it will change your health and life forever, especially after the Covid slump. A warning though is to go back to training slowly if you have had Covid as many patients around the world have had serious side-effects because of an over-zealous return to training. Start slowly and build up the intensity and duration gradually over time. Please get in touch with me or another health care practitioner if you are unsure or battling with return to exercise.

Chronic/Unrelenting Pain

Over and above normal injury/pathology related pain, I have also completed further studies in unrelenting or chronic pain and the management thereof where our nervous systems become hypersensitive and result in nociplastic pain. This pain can be incredibly debilitating and has been a mystery, but with the latest pain research and management, we are learning to manage it, bringing hope through reduced pain, improved functionality and purpose filled lives to patients. This includes those suffering with things like fibromyalgia, chronic headaches, shoulder, neck, and back pain, TMJ syndrome, Reflex sympathetic dystrophy etc. These are also linked to things like chronic fatigue syndrome, irritable bowel syndrome, restless leg syndrome etc. Please give us a call should you need help.

Paediatric Chiropractic

I have continued to further my studies within the scope of paediatric Chiropractic and am enjoying treating new-borns and children – especially since my wife and I became parents. Thorough assessment and care of kids is paramount as a child’s bodily development is dependent on correct posture and movement. Children should be assessed from birth and monitored to ensure optimal posture and movement development.
